One Billion Rising ist eine weltweit getanzte Kundgebung, die sich für ein Ende der Gewalt an Frauen und Mädchen einsetzt. Lt. UN Statistik wird jedes dritte Mädchen/jede dritte Frau einmal in ihrem Leben Opfer von Gewalt.
Diese globale Bewegung wurde 1998 von der New Yorker Künstlerin Eve Ensler ins Leben gerufen. Seitdem ist der 14. Februar nicht nur Valentinstag, sondern auch V- Day. (steht für Victory, Vagina)

Daher stehen wir auf, tanzen im öffentlichen Raum und setzen ein Zeichen.
Seit 2013 folgen tausende von Aktivistinnen und Aktivisten weltweit diesem Aufruf und ich bin dankbar und stolz, dass auch wir in St. Pölten uns erheben und ein Teil dieser globalen Bewegung sind.
